The Amber Precast team are proud to be involved in Birmingham’s biggest ever mass participation public art event, The Big Hoot.
This one-of-a-kind event is being brought to the city this Summer to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Organised by Wild in Art, the 10 week event will involve public art exhibitions featuring large-scale owl sculptures and smaller individually designed ‘owl-lets’ crafted by local students and teachers.
Amber Precast have been busy manufacturing 77 concrete plinths for the owls and owl-lets to perch on during the duration of the event. The plinths, made from precast concrete, provide a durable, cost effective and simple solution ensuring that the owls get to take a shining role!
The sculptures have been generously funded by local businesses and after the 10 week event has finished, the larger owls will be auctioned off in order to raise money for Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital. Along with being a great charity cause, the event is set to bring economic benefits to the region, providing an opportunity for Birmingham to showcase its diverse culture.
The Big Hoot gets off to a flying start today, but if you can’t make it down to Birmingham for the event, you can follow its progress on Twitter @thebighoot2015.
The Amber Precast team would like to wish the Big Hoot and Wild in Art the best of luck for the event and hope that it raises significant funds for such a fantastic cause.
